Drinking Water Safety in Kenosha County

Learn about free well water testing for county residents

🔥 Trending

In the wake of recent flooding that has impacted numerous local communities, Kenosha County officials are stepping up to protect resident health.

Kenosha County Public Health has announced a critical initiative offering free well water testing for any residents affected by the high waters.

This program is an essential response to a serious health concern, as floodwaters can carry bacteria and other contaminants into private well systems.

The potential for contaminated drinking water is a significant and urgent risk for families relying on wells.

Understanding this threat, the county has made accessing these services as straightforward as possible for concerned homeowners.

This proactive measure will continue through the end of May, ensuring ample time for participation.

Residents can obtain free test kits from a wide array of municipal buildings during their normal business hours.

Pickup locations are conveniently spread across the area, including the Kenosha County Center in Bristol and village halls in Paddock Lake, Salem Lakes, and Twin Lakes.

Other participating sites include the town halls for Randall and Wheatland, as well as the Pleasant Prairie Public Works Department.

Once you've collected a sample, you can drop it off at the Kenosha County Center at a specific time each Tuesday.

Alternatively, samples can be brought to the Public Health offices at the Job Center from Monday through Thursday.

Taking advantage of this free service is not just a suggestion; it's a vital step toward ensuring your family's drinking water is safe.

For many, this is an issue of peace of mind after a period of intense uncertainty.

Officials strongly encourage anyone whose well casing may have been submerged or touched by floodwaters to get it tested promptly.

This initiative reflects a commitment to public health and provides crucial support when residents need it most.
